Mr. Chavez born in San Luis a village near Yuma,Arizona. Mr. Chavez was born on March 31,1927.He was named after his grandfather,Cesario. He also passed away on April 23,1993 in San Luis.

In 1938 Mr. Chavez and his family moved to California. He lived in La Colonia Barrio in Oxnard for a short period, returning to Arizona several months later. They returned to California in June 1939 and this time settled in San Jose. They lived in the barrio called Sal Si Puedes "Get Out If You Can."

In 1944 he joined the Navy at the age of seventeen. He served two years.

In 1948 Mr. Chavez married Helen Fabela. He had eight children.

Mr. Chavez is an interesting man, because he was always a person who was never afraid to put his life in danger. Cesar was a civil rights, Latino, farm worker, and a labor leader, a crusader for nonviolent social change, and many other things. For many people in those days he was "one of the heroic figures of their time".

Mr. Chavez would influence millions of Americans to seek social justice and civil rights for the poor. He would also conduct many campains against recial and economic discrimination. We think Mr. Chavez was an extremely brave man that guts to be expressing his feelings in a dangerous way, because there are so many people that were against with what he would do too.Mr. Chavez was also an extremely generous man that wouldn't care about the consequences.

From all the things he had done for many people, his life changed, in a good way and in a bad way. Many people respected him a lot and he was looked up to. I think that from what he had experienced about the Great Depression, of his family losing their farm, I thing changed his life too and made him stronger. Another situation that changed his life was from the day that Mr. Chavez sat down on the "whites only" side at a theatre and he was arrested.

Mr. Chavez did overcome many obstacles and took alot of risks. Since he would do many organizations of people who wanted to speak and express what they felt, like the CSO, which was a prominent Latino Civil Rights Group,he took riske of people wanting to kill him, because there were people who didn't want him to help the latinos. Alot of problems would get in his way too, because he would have mean ignorent people try to stop him from helping.

I think Mr. Chavez should always be remembered, especially by latinos. He did everything he could to let us vote, and to be respected as everyone else, like being equal. There were other people that changed human life, but I thnk Cesar actually did make a better world to live in, because many people heard what he had to say and learned from it, maybe it wasn't easy, but many people made the effort. We can learn from this persons example if we just listened, there are still many people who don't like hispanics, but we don't harm anyone. Many people are just so ignorant and don't want to listen because they are too afraid to. Cesar has left us a brilliant gift and that is respect, respect to other types of races and feelings.
